Multiple tournaments to lose their spot

In a bid to take the lead on the Saudi offer that could shake up professional tennis as we know it, the ATP Tour just revealed their 2025 calendar this morning. The first observation that can be made is that multiple ATP 250 tournaments lost their spot in the calendar : Estoril, Cordoba, Newport, Atlanta and Lyon are nowhere to be seen in the first draft of freshly released calendar. This a big blow to local fans, especially in Estoril and Cordoba where the ambiance was electric every year.

In addition to these changes, some tournament will be moved, Bucharest will take Estoril's spot and Hamburg will be presented the week before Roland-Garros and some will be upgraded, Munich, Doha and Dallas will now be ATP 500 tournaments.

With the objective of giving players more rest, Canada (Montreal/Toronto) and Cincinnati Masters 1000 events will follow Indian Wells, Miami, Rome, Madrid and Shanghai by becoming two-week long events. It can be safely speculated that the main draw will be increased to 96 players like the other 2-week long Masters 1000. This move will bring the ATP closer to their proposed idea of a premium tour consisting of 10 Masters 1000 events and 4 Grand Slams.

Here is the complete calendar released by the ATP:
