Break Point tennis series cancelled after 2 seasons
According to an article from The Times, Netflix has stopped the production of Break Point after only 2 seasons with concerns over access to the game's top players. The tennis equivalent of Formula 1's Drive to Survive struggled with viewership during its 2 seasons.
As the show failed to cover some of the tour biggest stories, like the controversy over Novak Djokovic's failed attempt to play the Australian Open after refusing to take the COVID vaccine, the newspaper reports the series is unlikely to return unless viewing figures improve significantly for the second season.
That is an unfortunate turn of event as professional tennis as a whole is lacking coverage outside of the actual matches played. Let's hope that the producers can negotiate better access and reverse their decision.
