Two weeks ago, we presented the teams representing Spain, the United States, and Italy at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. We also wrote an article detailing the qualification rules for the Olympic tournament, which you can read here to learn more.
Today, we go over the teams representing the host country, France, Great Britain, and Russia, whose athletes can compete in the Olympics under a neutral banner.
France - Olympic Tennis Team
The biggest surprise came from Adrian Mannarino, who humbly decided to give up his spot to a player with better chances of success on clay. His performances on this surface has already been the subject of an article, as he has the worst win percentage on clay since the ATP was established in 1990 with a win % of 21.9%.
This honorable gesture by Mannarino allowed his compatriot Corentin Moutet to participate in his first Olympic Games. Another surprise was that nine-time Grand Slam doubles champion Kristina Mladenovic was not selected.

With Andy Murray's recent back surgery keeping him out of the singles tournament at Wimbledon, there is uncertainty about whether Great Britain will be able to count on the veteran and double Olympic champion in their lineup. He will be participating in doubles and mixed doubles at Wimbledon, so it is very likely that he will at least do the same in Paris.
Meanwhile on the women's side, Katie Boulter will be the only representative in singles after Emma Raducanu declined an invitation.

Russia - Olympic Tennis Team
The situation is complex for Russian and Belarusian athletes ahead of the Paris Olympics. Due to their countries' involvement in the ongoing war with Ukraine, athletes from these nations cannot participate in team competitions.
Individual sport athletes must receive approval from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and will compete under a neutral banner, in addition to being barred from attending the opening ceremonies. The IOC is investigating these athletes to ensure they have no military ties. Consequently, several athletes who should have been eligible based on their rankings have not yet received invitations, and it is unclear if they will.
Several Russian tennis players have chosen not to represent their country at these games. Notably, Daria Kasatkina, a vocal opponent of the war in Ukraine and openly gay, will not be participating. Karen Khachanov, Andrey Rublev, Anna Kalinskaya, Anastasia Potapova, and Liudmila Samsonova have also declined the IOC's invitation.
